We will prepare our equipment and make our way towards the first hut “Spilios Agapitos” at 2.100m. The descent will take approximately one hour. From there we will hike towards Megali Gourna for about an hour where we will spend the night at Christakis’s refuge, our first remote camping. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and optionally a mattress. The refuge is not equipped with a guard, therefore participants are required to have extra food and water.
We will leave Christakis refuge at 09:00, and follow the Ο2 trail which will take us to the south ridge of the mountain at Agios Antonios – Stavraities. We will then cross Zonaria and arrive at the Plateau of the Musses, where we will spend the night at the Kakalos hut at an elevation of 2650m. Our hike will last approximately 5-6 hours. From Profitis Ilias at 2.803m we will hike towards Mikri Toumba and then Megali Toumba from where we will get some astounding views towards all the mountains of Greece. We will then take a small break and hear about the mountain history and the mythology surrounding it.
The hike will last approximately 3 hours. We will then return to the hut, take a short rest and bid farewell to the Musses as we make our way towards Petrostrugga through Lemos. Once we have arrived at Petrostrugga we will settle down for the night. Estimated hiking duration is approximately 3 ½ hours.

In Greek mythology, Mt. Olympus was home to the Twelve Gods of the ancient world, and also the set-up for the most popular mythical stories. It is the place where the King of the Gods, Zeus, released his thunderbolts onto humanity, as a sign of anger or wrath.
Nowadays the mountain, which is the tallest one in Greece, is a darling for climbing expeditions. Mt Olympus is located on the border between Macedonia & Thessaly, and boasts for its astonishing nature, its popular slopes, its Christian monuments & its ancient/medieval sites. It is considered a non-technical hike, expect from the summit to the peak of Mytikas.
